The Outback Bowl previously known as the Hall of Fame Bowl, is an annual college football bowl, played at Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida. The bowl game is played on New Year's Day and televised on ESPN. The Hall of Fame game was originally played at Legion Field, in Birmingham, Alabama, from 1977-1985. In 1986, The College Football Hall of Fame and the National Football Foundation decided to discontinue their association with the bowls and realigned with a new bowl in Tampa, Florida. The Outback Bowl has contracts with the SEC and Big Ten Conferences. The bowl picks the third team from both conferences.
